I hope your week is going well!
Nathan and I have been busy bees over these past few days, and all of last weekend. We’re currently doing all the things and I’m honestly ready for next week to be here so things will start to slow down a little. First…we moved into our new apartment last Tuesday (YAY!), and we managed to finish almost everything in just a few short days. With the exception of some last minute things that we need to work on next week, we’re almost officially set! Next…my mom and dad arrived in Austin last Friday for my dad’s birthday weekend, and I was so happy to see them! It was the best little break in between a busy few days of moving. I always love when my parents visit Austin. Family time is my favorite time. We went out to eat and grabbed coffee with them while here, spent time catching up and talking, did a little shopping, and went over to my Aunt and Uncle’s home on Sunday evening for my dad’s birthday party! Needless to say, it was a busy but productive and very fun weekend for us! What have you guys been up to this week?
In other news…
Today’s blog post is all about the frequently asked questions that I receive from all of you on Instagram, via email, in person…you name it! Today’s list of questions are the ones that I hear most often and the ones that I thought would be fun to dive into on here with you. So, let’s get started!
LM FAQ’s:
How tall are you?
I’m only 5’0 ft! (5’3 – 5’5 with a great pair of heels though.😉) When I was younger, my brother and I would constantly get asked if we were twins because we stayed at the same height until I was about 10 years old. Then, all of a sudden, he shot up and grew and I kind of just stayed the same. The upside to being 5ft though… always being able to wear the highest heels that I want, and never ever getting close to being Nathan’s height. LOL.
Where did the name Leopard Martini come from?
I’ve had so many people ask me this question, and to be honest I wish I had a better answer for you! When I first started my blog back in 2011, it was initially called Little Miss Fashionista and that quickly evolved into Leopard Martini.🐆🍸 I grabbed a glass of wine one night and a journal, and started writing down several words that I loved: things that I liked, favorite colors, drinks, etc… and wrote down Leopard and Martini because I love both leopard print and martinis! Those two words happened to be on a page close to each other and I thought they looked great together, so there you go – Leopard Martini! (I’m currently brainstorming a rebrand though, and will share more on that soon.🙂)
Where do you like to shop?
Some of my favorite places to shop for unique and beautiful pieces are: Anthropologie, Shopbop, Net-A-Porter, Nordstrom, And Other Stories, Mango, and Intermix. I love purchasing pieces that are both timeless and unique that you won’t see everywhere and feel as though all of those stores do such a great job with their selection. I don’t usually stick to trends, but instead I purchase things that I love and that I know I’ll get great use out of.
What ethnicity are you?
I’m Guatemalan! Both of my parents are from Guatemala in Central America and I was born in Pasadena, California and raised in Texas! My mother’s grandparents were from Italy and my father’s grandparents were from Spain, so I’m kind of a melting pot of several different things. But surprisingly, I most often get asked if I’m Asian! (Specifically Filipino.) I used to get it all the time whenever I lived in NYC. Fun Fact: One of my best friends is actually half Filipino and anytime we were hanging out around the city together we would get asked if we were sisters! Love you Miryam!❤️
Where are your rings from?
Nathan purchased my engagement ring from a spot in New York City, and my new wedding ring set is actually two diamond rings 💍 that my mom purchased before I was born! Her and Nathan both surprised me with them for our wedding day and I love them soooo much. I’m planning to share more images of them in an upcoming wedding post soon!
Would you move back to NYC?
ABSOLUTELY! Nathan and I have talked about moving back to NYC in the future before we’re ready to settle down, buy a house, and have children. We’d love to have a little time in the city to build our careers and enjoy being a young, newly married couple together. And I really, really want Nate to experience life in NYC! Being there was one of the most influential and inspiring times of my life, and I just know he’d love it so much too! Also, so many of my best friends are still in New York and I left lots of amazing connections/contacts in the fashion industry that I want to tap back into when there…In other words, NYC is constantly calling my name.
