Dishing on our fun stay at the East Austin Hotel!
A few weekends ago, Nathan and I took a night away from home and had a mini-staycation at the East Austin Hotel. We had such a fun time! Our staycation came right before were getting ready to move from our old apartment on South Congress to our new apartment in Sunset Valley. It was so nice to take a little break from packing to enjoy poolside drinks, a little lounging, and a relaxing stay at one of Austin’s new and super trendy East Side hotels!
Nathan and I stayed in a Poolside King Room with a balcony that overlooked the pool. (It was honestly perfect.) There’s nothing like a poolside view when you’re doing a staycation!🙌🏻 We got to enjoy a quick drink up on the balcony before walking to dinner that evening, and we loved having our morning coffee there the following day. It felt like we were on a little retreat, and as if we had a private little hideaway all to ourselves.
WHERE IT’S LOCATED:
The East Austin Hotel is perfectly situated on Austin’s East 6th Street. It’s conveniently located just 5 blocks from downtown, and a short walk from of all of the fun East Austin spots! The hotel’s style takes a modern twist in decor with its sleek bungalow style rooms and trendy restaurant and bar atmospheres. (Giving it all the great Austin vibes.) The staff is so friendly and welcoming too! They’re always there if you need anything, and are so quick to accommodate you’re every need. You just can’t beat southern hospitality y’all!
WHAT TO DO:
There’s so much to do, or (not do) at the East Austin Hotel. (Depending on how YOU want to staycation.) Our stay there was filled with lots of lounging by the pool (both at night and in the morning!), eating all the delicious food from their restaurant, ordering a few refreshing cocktails, and finishing off the bottle of wine we picked up on the way over! Not to mention, lots of walking around East Austin to some of our favorite spots. East Austin Hotel is truly the perfect home base for exploring everything that there is to do over on this side of Austin. You can grab dinner at any of the amazing restaurants located around the area, and go for a night out at some of their trendy bars and dancehalls or just choose to stay in and enjoy the pool + bars at the hotel. The possibilities are endless…

WHERE TO EAT:
East Austin Hotel has a variety of spots for you to choose from when it comes to dining, enjoying breakfast, or grabbing a quick bite! They have three different restaurant/bars located inside the hotel, and each one of them includes delicious food and refreshing drinks for you to choose from. I’m listing all three of them for you below, along with a few things that we ordered!
6th and Waller:
This spot is open morning, noon, and NIGHT! And trust me when I say that Nathan and I (being the foodies that we are) definitely made the most of it. We ordered a snack during our nighttime swim (we opted for the tater tots and they were AMAZING – I still crave them!), and we had a poolside breakfast on Saturday morning. I ordered my usual classic breakfast with two eggs over easy + a side of bacon and toast, and Nathan ordered the queso benedict. It was delicious! (I snagged a few bites of his.)
Pool Bar:
We stopped at Pool Bar for a drink as soon as we arrived at the hotel! I ordered a Neon Chi Chi with blue curacao, pineapple, vanilla bean coconut cream, and lime. I made Nathan share with me, because as you can see in the pictures above, it was pretty big haha!
The Upside:
After a quick drink at the Pool Bar, Nate and I grabbed another round upstairs at The Upside. This rooftop spot is perfect for lounging with friends or with your beau. It has great views of parts of downtown, and is a fun spot for people watching too! (In case you’re like me and love to people watch. A habit I picked up while living in NYC.)
EAST AUSTIN AREA:
When Nathan and I moved to Austin two years ago, we first lived on the East Side. We still really love the East Side, and are always taking friends for nights out over there anytime that they visit us here in the city. Austin’s East Side is full of delicious restaurants, hip bars, and trendy spots to dance the night away in. It always seems as though there’s some sort of fun event happening on the East Side too! There’s always live music, or some sort of party going on!
We hadn’t been over to the East Side for an evening out for quite some time, so we made the most of it during our stay. We did some walking around the neighborhood and enjoyed going to some of our old haunts. First, we stopped inside Il Brutto (one of our favorite Italian spots) for pasta and house-made limoncello for dinner on Friday night. Then we walked over to Royal Blue Grocery for some cookie-dough bites to take back to the hotel!
Other Great Spots in East Austin Include:
Il Brutto – they make their pasta in-house and it’s SO GOOD. I always order their Lasagna.
Ramen Tatsu-Ya – yummy ramen spot. Nathan and I have both only ever been here with co-workers so we definitely need a date night here together soon!
Bufalina – AMAZING pizza! The wait is usually a little long, but totally worth it!!
Royal Blue Grocery – for ALL the snacks. Grab the cookie-dough bites, and thank me later.
The Liberty – great dive bar with cheap drinks and a food truck out back in case you get hungry.
Couldn’t go without a few skincare secret weapons!
Obsessed with everything True Botanicals, Kiehl’s, and goop.
P.S. This robe was soooo comfortable, and when I posted it on Instagram everyone thought it was a dress! You can purchase it at the hotel shop.
My sweet husband looking extra handsome in his new hat.
