Hi friends! I hope you had a restful and relaxing weekend, and that you were able to indulge in a delicious meal at home, a great new book, or some binge-worthy shows. Here in New York, we have officially entered week 6 of quarantine, and I honestly can’t believe it’s already been 5 full weeks of this new normal. Nathan and I have slowly eased ourselves into our new reality, while also trying to maintain a little sense of normalcy. We’ve tried to stick to a few of our usual routines, but at the same time are being very easy on ourselves and leaving room for lots and lots of grace. Which is so very necessary right now. (Always remember to love on yourself, and listen to what your mind and soul need during this season.)
On another note, I’m so very excited to share today’s post with you! A few weeks ago, I asked all of you to share your favorite small businesses with me so that we could find ways to come together and continue to support them during this time. With so many of our favorite spots closed or currently operating under revised hours, there are still many ways that we can continue to support them. A few ways that come to mind include:
- Purchase Gift Cards to use at a later time or to send to a friend.
- Order takeout or delivery from your go-to local spots!
- Write thoughtful reviews for them on Facebook.
- Tag them and share love on Instagram or Facebook.
- Leave comments online and let them know that you miss them!
- Keep in touch with them on social.
- Share important updates from them with your audience via Instagram Stories or Twitter.
There are so many great ways we can support the small businesses that we love, even if it’s just through encouragement. Now, let’s take a look at a few of your favorites along with some of mine and what we can do to show our support.
A Few of Your Favorite Small Businesses:
Brew and Brew
Location: Austin, TX
Brew and Brew was on your list of favorites and it’s one of my favorites too!! When Nathan and I moved to Austin we spent our first year living on the East Side before making the switch to South Congress and then eventually Sunset Valley. Needless to say, a lot of our East Side weekends were spent at Brew and Brew. Right now, they’ve made their menu easily accessible for pickup and delivery through ordering online. Head to this link to see more: Brew & Brew Order Online
End of an Ear
Location: Austin, TX
You guys sure know how to pick them. Another great Austin spot is End of an Ear, one of the coolest record stores I’ve been to. You can continue to support them by shopping their merch online, and wearing it around your apartment for your co-workers or family to sneak a peek of on those zoom calls!
Flat Track Coffee
Location: Austin, TX
Another hip coffee shop in Austin that Nate and I love is Flat Track Coffee. This Coffee spot/Bike Shop is a complete VIBE. They have revised store hours right now along with local delivery and FREE domestic shipping on coffee + merch!
Autonomy of Movement
Location: Austin, TX
So much love for the Austin spots, and I absolutely adore the mission behind this one. This exercise studio located in North Austin is the first of it’s kind in the city. They focus on body-positive inclusivity, and strive to empower their clients to find joy and confidence through movement. Join them in an online workout by signing up for one of their virtual classes!
PlantShed
Location: New York, NY
This has become one of our new and favorite go-to spots to shop for plants for our apartment. As most of you know, Nate and I love plants! They immediately boost my mood and serve as a great source of comfort and joy in any space. PlantShed is currently offering bloom + plant shopping online along with plant delivery! You can shop for flowers & plants on their website here.
Gypsy Floral
Location: Austin, TX
This gorgeous floral destination has been featured in Brides, The Knot, & Style Me Pretty. With weddings at a current stand-still all over the world, there are still ways to support these local vendors. Best news too, they’re still offering delivery! Send blooms to family, friends, and co-workers for a little pick-me-up throughout the week or to simply let them know that you’re thinking about them.
Pieces – A Design Mercantile
Location: Amarillo, TX
I can’t wait to visit this adorable shop on my next trip back home to Amarillo. It was started by a mother/daughter team that shares a love for interior design and decor. They have closed their doors due to COVID-19, but you can continue to support them by following them on Instagram, and spreading the love for their shop by tagging them on items that you have previously purchased. Reviews on Facebook are always a great way of showing your support too!
Hanks
Location: Austin, TX
This trendy coffee shop/restaurant in Austin is always a go-to of mine whenever I’m in town. Their menu is delish, and they’re currently offering takeout & delivery! Share the love with a Hank’s Gift Card.
Le Politique
Location: Austin, TX
Le Politique is one of my favorite spots in Austin, and one that appears frequently in a lot of my photos. Both on Instagram and the blog! They are currently closed until further notice, but you can continue to support them by reaching out on social and spreading love for their restaurant, sending a gift card to a friend or purchasing one to use later, and leaving reviews on Facebook!
We Are Women Owned
Location: New York, NY
I love love love this company. We Are Women Owned is a community & events based platform dedicated to connecting, supporting, and empowering women-owned businesses. Good Earth
Location: Hudson Valley, NY
My sweet friend Jordan placed this shop on my radar, and I’m so happy that she did. I absolutely love the fun and unique jewelry pieces that they have. You can continue to support them by shopping their goodies online, and supporting them by sporting some of their merch!
Arlo Jean
Location: Auburndale, FL
This darling shop is owned by a sweet friend of mine, Victoria Bardega Sheppard, who I love following on Instagram. (She’s also a featured writer for @darling & @theeverygirl!) Her shop is filled with beautiful and sustainable handcrafted earrings that I know you’ll love as much as I do. You can continue to support by shopping her Etsy, and following along on IG!
Bohemian Groove on the Move
Location:
The concept behind this shop is so much fun!! This bohemian airstream merges both fashion + traveling, and offers an eclectic mix of brands and one of a kind pieces. You can support them by shopping online & checking them out on social.
Watson Kennedy
Location: Seattle, WA
This shop, based in Seattle, is filled with so many fun finds and I absolutely love their story. You can shop everything from home and pantry to paper goods, art, and apothecary online. Head to their website to see more!
Chocolate Moderne
Location: New York, NY
Chocolate modern looks like the chocolate shop of my dreams, and I definitely plan to visit once everything here in the city passes. Shop their delicious sweets online, and spread the word to your friends!
Thank you to everyone who submitted their favorite small businesses and for introducing me to so many new and amazing shops/places! I really loved putting this post together for you, and am planning to do another round of it soon for the remaining places that you sent my way. Stay tuned!
