WEARING: Shopbop Dress | Jeffrey Campbell Slides
With the added time spent at home, it’s allowed me to get more creative in our little 600 square ft apartment. On the evenings that we haven’t been able to go out for a nice dinner in the city, we bring a nice dinner home by whipping something special up ourselves! And on nights that we aren’t able to visit our favorite haunts for a classic dirty martini, we’ve been making martinis at the apartment instead.
I love being able to find ways to elevate moments at home by injecting a little more magic and romance. After all, our homes should be the place that inspires us the most. The place that helps us recharge our batteries, and get re-energized for everything that awaits outside of our front door.
Here are a few ways to spice up your evening routine at home:
Open a New Bottle of Wine:
Nathan and I have officially found our favorite wine shop in the neighborhood, and we’ve been frequenting it on the weekends to pick up a few bottles for dinners at home. We’ve made friends with the owner, and he’s always so great at suggesting new wines for us to try! He recently transported us to Spain and Italy with the last two reds we had, and I’ve officially added them to our wine ‘favorites’ list.
Get Dressed Up (in something new!)
During the weeks spent at home, I found myself feeling my best when I was getting dressed for the day. It’s amazing what a little mascara and a cute jumpsuit or dress can do to your mood! Like so many of you, I also made a few online purchases during my time at home and stocked up on lots of goodies from one of my favorite websites. I’ve been updating my denim selection recently and have also added a few new pieces for the upcoming fall season, along with some fun tops, dresses, and hats to get me through the rest of summer.
Light a few Candles:
No matter the season, you’ll always spot a few lit candles in our home. I love how they can so easily change the mood of a space, and instantly invite a little more warmth and glow in. We’re constantly rotating between a few favorites from Jo Malone including: Lavender & Lovage, English Pear & Freesia, and Nectarine Blossom & Honey.
Turn on a Great Playlist:
We’re always playing music at home. While we work, while we cook, while we eat… I feel as though there’s always a great playlist going to help set the mood, whatever that mood might be! (P.S. – I’m currently planning to share a few seasonal playlists that I’ve created with you soon! Starting with my go-to one for the Summer.)
Cook Together!
There’s nothing better than a home-cooked meal, and when you can share that experience with the ones you love it makes it even more special. Nathan and I have been loving cooking together these past few months, and have had so much fun getting creative in the kitchen on random evenings throughout the week. Because who doesn’t love steak au Poivre and potato gratin on a Tuesday!
Cheers to enjoying slower evenings at home!
