Choosing your venue is going to be one of the biggest decisions that you’ll make when planning your wedding. The venue is the heart of the celebration. You want it to embody everything that you and your partner are about, and for it to be the perfect setting to share the love that you have for each other with friends and family. 💕
Here are my top 3 things to keep in mind when searching for a venue:
- Is it within your budget? – most wedding venues will have you pay half of what it will cost upfront, and the second half a month or two before the wedding. Make sure that the price of the venue fits within your budget. (You’ll have many more expenses to factor in other than just the venue!)
- Is it all-inclusive? – do you want a space that will allow for you to have both the ceremony and reception there? Since our wedding is a destination style wedding we definitely didn’t want friends and family to feel as though they had to go all over the city for our big day. This is why we chose a space that could give us everything in one spot. (ceremony, reception, and catering!)
- Can they accommodate all of your wedding day needs? – are you bringing in your own band or catering, will you have a friend officiating, do they have restrictions on guest count or DJ equipment? Make sure that you ask a prospective venue as many questions as possible before signing that contract!
I started hunting for venues not long after we got engaged. We instantly knew that we wanted to have our wedding in New York, and since spring is the busiest time for weddings there, I wanted to make sure we booked a spot ASAP. My process was fairly simple – I just googled everything!! (Google has been my BEST FRIEND during this whole wedding process.😅) I somewhat had an idea as to what part of the city I wanted us to be in, but had no clue what I was looking for venue wise. SIDE NOTE: I also found out just how crazy expensive weddings in NYC can be! My mouth honestly dropped at some of the proposals I was receiving back via email.
It was almost instantaneous when I saw our venue online though. I honestly just knew that it was the one. It completely fit our style and aesthetic, and was also within our budget!! (insert this emoji here – 🙌🏻). I am absolutely over the moon to be having our wedding at Haven’s Kitchen this May, and CAN NOT WAIT to share photos with you from our special day. – I can’t believe it’s almost here!! (Only 87 Days to GO!🎉)
I hope you enjoyed today’s Wedding Wednesday post!
