Fall is hands down, my favorite season. One of my favorite quotes from Emily Bronte sums it up nicely: “Every leaf speaks bliss to me, Fluttering from the Autumn Tree.”Among the many reasons I love fall include: watching the leaves turn from green to deep orange, reds, and yellow, the weather becoming crisp and seeing all of the pumpkins, seasonal drinks, and delicious food that comes with the season. We’ve been able to experience a little bit of Fall weather in Austin this year and it’s made me so happy. The leaves actually turned rather quickly here, and it’s been so beautiful to watch. I feel as though we’ve had more of a fall this time around than we did last year, and it’s been amazing.
Fall brings back so many wonderful memories from when I was younger. (Which makes it no surprise that it’s my favorite season!) On today’s post, I’m going to be sharing 7 of my favorite things to do during the Fall season. No matter what city you live in! This list includes everything from visiting a local pumpkin patch to going to a holiday movie at the drive-in. I’m listing all of them out for you below.
1. Take a Hayride.
An annual hayride is the best way to welcome the new fall season, and it’s likely that your local city offers several great options for you to join in on! I used to go on hayrides with my family when I was little, and specifically remember a special father/daughter hayride that my dad and I went on when I was about 10 years old. We were bundled up with hot cocoa as we rode on the trailer while enjoying the fall scenery around us. It was one of the best fall moments I’ve had to this day.
2. Go Apple Picking!
The last time I went apple picking was with my mom and grandma a few Fall seasons ago. We drove out the cutest apple orchard and had the best time gathering apples and placing our favorite ones in our baskets. After selecting the ones that we wanted, we took them home and baked a delicious apple pie together.
3. Enjoy Seasonal Sips.
Stop by your favorite local haunt to see what’s on their seasonal menu! Most bars and restaurants offer new menus based on ingredients that are specific to the Fall season. Nathan and I love checking in to some of our favorite spots to see what new sips they’re offering!
4. Visit a Pumpkin Patch.
I’m a sucker for pumpkins and LOVE visiting pumpkin patches during the Fall! (And yes, I’m that girl that orders PSL’s right in front of you while you’re in line at Starbucks. #Guilty) I love decorating our apartment with pumpkins and also love baking all the pumpkin things.
5. Throw a Seasonal Party.
The holiday season is all about gathering together with family & friends to celebrate! What better way to ring in the holiday spirit than by having family or friends over for a seasonal party? Whether you’re having light bites over a holiday movie or having a fall trivia night, there are so many ways to engage with family and friends this season.
6. Host a Friendsgiving Dinner.
Fall also welcomes one of my favorite holidays: Thanksgiving. And one of the best ways to celebrate with those that you won’t be with during the actual holiday is by hosting a Friendsgiving Dinner. If your home isn’t big enough for the entire group, try finding a spot to rent out and coordinate meal planning with your friends! Everyone could split the cost of the place, and each person brings their own holiday dish to enjoy.
7. Watch a Holiday Movie at the Drive-In.
Your local drive-in is probably already cranking out all the great holiday pictures. Check their website to see what’s current or upcoming, and schedule a date night with your boo to go see one of your favorite holiday movies. (Pro Tip: Pack your own wine and snacks for the car so that you’re sure not to run out!)
Have you checked any of those off of your list?
