Last week, I had the opportunity to attend the annual New York International Auto Show here in Manhattan with Kia. It was so much fun, and I was thrilled to be able to take part in such an exciting event.
While there, I met with the three designers of the new Kia Cadenza, and was given more insight into the inspiration behind the innovative design of the all-new 2017 Cadenza model. It’s so amazing to see the links between style within fashion, and style within automotive.
I spoke with both Raymond Ng and Johm Paxton (two designers behind the Kia Cadenza model), and here’s what they had to say:
“ I was looking heavily at architecture and fashion. A lot of time we gravitate towards automotive and for this I was stepping outside to gather inspiration.” Johm
I loved what Raymond mentioned as well, in comparing the model to a well-tailored suit.:
“For the model, we kept in mind what a well-tailored suite does for a man, and though about how we could embody that feel within the car as well. The suit is what makes something look good. We wanted something that was well fit, well-tailored, and really modern in order to show off the shape of the car. – Raymond
“Just like a good suit on a man will make him look great, we wanted to emulate this for the Cadenza. We really reserved expressiveness into the details to top the look off. Details that a man would consider when adding the finishing touches to his look… Nice cuff links, a nice watch, and nice shoes.” – Raymond
